The Office

The philosophy of work within the principles of ethics, transparency and the search for the best results for the client have always been part of the office routine, since its foundation in January 1970.

Its structure is formed by a team of 90 professionals, including lawyers, patent engineers and industrial property agents, as well as a staff specializing in anti-counterfeiting measures. Prosecution and litigation matters are also our specialty.

In order to keep ourselves updated with our client´s evolution and meet new requirements and demands in the Intellectual Property area, the office constantly invests in internal development through constant participation in seminars, courses and conferences in Brazil and abroad.

The international operations of David do Nascimento office began in the 80’s, after opening of the Brazilian market, which resulted in expansion of IP rights protection in our country by multinational clients. It is also very important to highlight the active participation of the office in the main international events in the IP Associations from various countries and in global rankings, such as Chambers, Legal 500, IP Stars, and the Brazilian Law Directory, among others.

The outlook is for consistent and continuous growth and, in this scenario, we are ready to meet the new demands of the market with a focused work on the client and recognized competence in national and international level.

Our History

David do Nascimento office was founded in January 1970, from the will to administer justice fully, in a rather controversial branch of Law, where there were plenty of inevitable conflicts of interests: Intellectual Property, which comprises Industrial Property and Copyright.

The right decision is confirmed after more than four decades, secured by the successful career and tradition of competence, honesty and trust built with clients over time.
From the 1980’s, with the incipient globalization of the Brazilian economy, the Intellectual Property area turned out to be strategic for businesses, vital to their growth and to the consolidation of their trademarks and patents in national and international markets.

While domestic and foreign clients’ demands on Industrial Property Law grew, the branch of Law relating to Intellectual Property in a broad sense also grew and became more sophisticated with the rise of the Internet, the rapid expansion of electronic commerce and all challenges and developments that the global operation of a new media entailed.

In an environment market by the incorporation of technological innovations to businesses’ and persons’ daily lives, we saw the consolidation of new areas of Law, for which we continue to offer high-quality and technically accurate services by the same commitment to well serve our customers and protecting their legitimate rights and interests within the Brazilian legal system.
